Overpriced, mediocre quality and intimidating atmosphere.
Russell's was a stop for my family on a road trip between New England and Atlanta. We stopped there around 7pm on a Sunday evening and the place was far from welcoming. After finding the correct entrance by wandering through the bar to inquiring looks from the patrons, we were (eventually) greeted by a harried looking server and after much fussing with what looked like an appointments book and whispering between a couple of servers (with sidelong glances at us) we were shown to one of the many empty tables behind the bar area.
The entrees seemed overpriced at around $25 and, given our intial welcome, were not something we were prepared to gamble on. Our eventual selection of soup and salad was OK, although the minestrone was hardly stunning and the salmon bisque was gelatinous, but quite tasty. The house salad was underwhelming and overdressed.
We left in a hurry thirty minutes later, wallet $50 lighter and actually relieved to get away from the stares of the local patrons.
Russell's has it all!.
What can I say about Russell?s? ...A fabulous place to socialize; have a great date or a family gathering. They are always on top of their game with their food and beverages and fantastic service. Owner's on site most everyday and all have pride in their product. I have been going there for over 7 years now (traveling there from out of state for four years and out of the area for three) and it has only improved with time. So if you are interested in great Italian food with a home like atmosphere go to Russell Preno's Restaurant Inc.
